Activities

San Luis Obispo County

Many guests come for the wide range of outdoor and cultural activities SLO County offers. You'll find areas for hiking, fishing, bird watching and picnicking nearby, as well as facilities for golfing and sailing. There are many museums, galleries and venues too.

For more options, visit our Other Activities page.

For upcoming events, visit Wine Coast Country Calendar.

Food and Wine

Other guests come for just two activities: wining and dining. We recommend that you enjoy an elegant dinner at La Palapa restaurant, right next door to the Inn.

Around the Inn

Just across the street is a small boat launch and pier, a good spot to view the bay. Try a cappuccino from Back Bay Cafe while you watch a stunning sunset. Back Bay Cafe is home to the Baywood Navy whose motto is, "We don't sail in water deeper than we can stand in".

Canoeing, kayaking and small boat sailing are quite popular. At high tide there is small boat access from the pier to Morro Bay and the Pacific Ocean. See the beach horseback riding and kayaking video.

““Five days of glorious quiet and wonderful surroundings and people. What more can we ask for a marvelous getaway? This is the first time we have stayed with you, but certainly not the last. We must thank our friends who recommended your Inn. We are so delighted we took their advice. It would be perfect it we could only bottle the air and take it home with us."

A Short Walk

Sweet Springs Nature Preserve is a short walk from the Inn and is a great place for a picnic, or you could take the Baywood Beach Walk around the peninsula. At high tide you might get your feet wet, but you’ll be able to see many interesting waterfront homes.

If you are around the Inn on a Monday afternoon, don't miss the Baywood Farmers Market for local produce and fresh fruits.

Festivals

Junefest takes place on a Sunday in late May or early June at the Back Bay Gardens across from the Inn. It’s a carnival with a Kayak race and a 4-mile run. It’s close, so relax and enjoy.

Octoberfest also takes place just outside the Inn. On the 4th Sunday of October there’s a Halloween Parade, another 4-mile run and lots of food and beer.
